About the Program
New graduate nurses with an interest in transition to practice are invited to apply for Hospital for Special Care’s Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program (NRP)™.
Our NRP focuses on the professional practice of nursing using professional development, clinical leadership and quality patient outcomes. This one-year curriculum provides a nurturing and supportive learning environment to grow your career as a highly skilled nurse and strengthen competencies such as collaboration, communication and delegation during your first year of practice.

Education
We’ll provide you a solid foundation for your career through real-world applications, simulations, case studies and more, Curricula includes skills that are challenging to navigate such as ethics, communication, prioritization and organization. You will also complete and implement an evidence-based project that will strengthen critical thinking by enhancing decision-making and clinical judgment.
Professional Development
You’ll gain clinical experience with mentored relationships and debriefing conversations with NRP coordinators and facilitators. You will also receive intentional guidance on creating a professional development plan to identify individual growth opportunities.

Engage with multidisciplinary staff to explore nurse opportunities in medical rehabilitation, complex pediatrics, spinal cord injuries, respiratory/ventilator care, brain injuries, stroke, post-surgical care, and cardiac care including LVAD’s and cardiac monitoring.
