Health Sciences Library and Resource Center

Our Health Sciences Library and Resource Center provides a variety of services and resources for our staff, our patients and their families, as well as to the community as a whole. The collection reflects our areas of service in rehabilitation and long-term acute care for both the health consumer and professional staff. These resources are available in the library in print and online.  A small collection of leisure reading titles is available.

1st Floor, just off the main lobby at Hospital for Special Care
Open Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm

What you’ll find in the Library:

  • A media room with a television, DVD, VCR, and Nintendo Wii™ that is available for patients and families to use at their leisure
  • Access to online databases and other online resources
  • Literature searches
  • A collection of professional and consumer health-related books and journals

National Library of Medicine’s MedlinePlus

MedlinePlus directs you to information which will help answer health questions. MedlinePlus brings together authoritative information from the National Library of Medicine (NLM), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), other government agencies, and health-related organizations. It also contains extensive information about drugs and supplements, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, and videos. Links to reputable and credible information are available in English, Spanish, and, for some topics, in other languages.
