Spiritual Care

During your hospital stay, our chaplains can be a resource to help navigate life changes and support emotional and spiritual wellness. Chaplains are respectful of all faith traditions, personal beliefs, and religious symbols. Trained in inter-faith care, our chaplains care for the human spirit. They offer listening, words, prayer, actions, and group work to help you to access peace or a divine presence in a time of change or distress.

A chaplain is available to provide spiritual and emotional support to inpatients and families during the day Monday through Friday and is on call 24 hours/7 days a week to respond to emergencies, crises, and urgent spiritual care needs. A chaplain will visit every patient/family at Hospital for Special Care who requests it. At the request of a patient or family member, the chaplain can also contact the patient’s priest, pastor, rabbi, or faith community leader for them. To request a visit, call 860-983-5345.
