Events with Purpose: A Year of Fun and Fundraisers

December 23, 2024

Our signature fundraising events and community partner programs offer a unique and valuable opportunity to join us in our mission to rebuild lives as a sponsor, volunteer, donor or guest. Learn about the many different events that supported healing and strengthening those supported by our continuum of care in 2024 below.

Our 2024 Signature Events:

Ivan Lendl Golf Classic – May 6, 2024

It was an extraordinary day of golf and giving at this year’s Ivan Lendl Golf Classic, benefitting our adaptive sports program, adaptive sports camp and inclusive recreational activities. Special thanks to Celebrity Emcee and NBC Connecticut’s Bob Maxon for bringing the sunshine to TPC River Highlands, and Ivan Lendl for being our camp champion. The generosity of our sponsors, golfers and guests allows us to continue to provide our Ivan Lendl Adaptive Sports Camp at no-cost to participants!

Manes & Motions Night at the Derby – September 26, 2024

We ran for the roses at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown and raised a record-breaking $85,000.00 to benefit equine therapeutic activities. Thank you to all of the sponsors and guests that joined us to celebrate Manes & Motions’ 25th Anniversary and helped us raise these much-needed funds. Our gratitude goes out to Taylor Kinzler for being our emcee, friend and advocate, as well as Middletown Mayor Ben Florsheim for coming out to join in the fascinators and festivities!

Our 2024 Partner Events:

MahoneySabol 5K at the Travelers Championship – April 27, 2024

This year’s MahoneySabol, CPAs and Advisors 5K at the Travelers Championship saw sunny skies and a remarkable field of over 400 racers! This premier 5K raised $37,111.00 for our neuromuscular care center, which provides revolutionary medical care for patients living with ALS, Parkinson’s, neuropathy, MS, and other medically complex neuromuscular disorders.

Volunteer 5K – May 19, 2024

Celia, Casey and Dylan are high school students and dedicated volunteers who have been profoundly impacted by their experience with us and have chosen to host an annual 5K, supporting our mission to rebuild lives. This year they had over 45 runners and raised $4,510.00! We thank these dedicated high-school student volunteers for their leadership and spirit of generosity in raising these funds to help us continue to rebuild lives.

Tom Dore’s Run the Runway 5K – June 14, 2024

This annual 5K is held at Ellington Airport under the glow of the runway lights, benefitting our ALS Center of Excellence! This year’s event raised $4,000.00 and featured all day activities including skydiving, kid’s games, a BBQ and post-race s’mores by the firepit. This fun-raiser takes place thanks to the incredible support from the race organizers, Connecticut Parachutists and Run169 Town Society.

Children’s Charities Tennis Classic – August 17 & 18, 2024

The 46th annual Children’s Charities Tennis Classic took place at Newington High School’s tennis courts and proudly raised funds to benefit the renovation of our pediatric unit floors this year. This fun-filled family tennis tournament hosts several divisions for youngsters ages 10 up through adults and contributed over $8,000.00 in charitable impact.

Kelser Charity Challenge – September 16, 2024

Kelser Corporation held their 27th Annual Charity Golf Challenge benefitting our Center for Cognitive Health. The tournament offers an incredible day of golf at Indian Hills Country Club, fun (including their signature helicopter ball drop!) and fundraising; helping us increase our care offerings for those living with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Dementia and other memory aging diseases.
