William J. Pesce, DO begins New Year as permanent Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief of Staff

Hospital for Special Care (HFSC) has appointed Dr. William J. Pesce, DO to serve as Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Chief of Staff, providing clinical leadership and oversight for the hospital’s inpatient and outpatient services.  Dr. Pesce, who has served as Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at HFSC for more than nine years and has practiced at the hospital since 1993, previously served as the Interim Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Staff since the summer.

“I and our board of directors are thrilled to have Dr. Pesce fill the role permanently,” said Lynn Ricci, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer.  “This appointment comes at an essential time for HFSC as we provide COVID-19 vaccinations to eligible patients and employees,” said Ricci, “Since agreeing to serve as interim in July of 2020, Dr. Pesce has led a successful care delivery system during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am confident Dr. Pesce’s extensive experience in complex rehabilitation and extraordinary dedication will advance patient-centered care and sustain our mission.”

Dr. Pesce, a Southington, CT resident, is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation.  He specializes in the care and treatment of musculoskeletal and spinal disorders, spinal cord injury, pain and spasticity management, stroke rehabilitation and electrodiagnostic medicine.
