The Mane Event Raises 20% More Funds for Manes & Motions

October 10, 2018

Thanks to Webster Bank, Dr. James Massi, the University of Saint Joseph and generous sponsors, guests and donors, the 2018 Mane Event raised over 20 percent more funds to support program operations than the previous year.  More than 50 volunteers, including Connecticut Junior Women members and Eversource crews, transformed the indoor riding arena for the fun-filled barbecue held September 28, 2018.

Delicious country fare, live music, auctions and games entertained more than 200 guests who came to support the riders, horses and program mission.  John Valeri shared what the program has meant to his family, sharing his mom Christine’s story at the event. After intensive rehabilitation at Hospital for Special Care for a brain aneurysm and a series of strokes, Christine, in her mid-60s, became a rider at Manes & Motions. Christine sat by her son’s side, smiling proudly as he spoke to the audience.

“Just being with the horse promoted a sense of peace and purpose in mom, shared by her team of outstanding workers who have shown absolute compassion and commitment,” said John.

The Mane Event 2019 will be held Friday, September 20, 2019. All proceeds from the event support Manes & Motions horses and riders.
