Low Vision Program
Through a unique partnership with the Lions Club, we offer occupational therapy evaluations for your vision loss. We treat a multitude of diagnoses, such as age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cataracts, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, as well as pediatric diagnoses such as amblyopia, cerebral palsy, and autism.
How We Treat
Our specially trained occupational therapists work one-on-one with you to help you learn how to continue doing activities that may prove difficult due to low vision. By focusing on everyday activities, we work to improve your ability to function at home and in the community. You will receive education in the skills needed to gain independence, and obtain magnification and low vision equipment at no additional charge.
Communication, illumination, magnification and leisure aids are provided based on your needs free of charge.
You will be taught eye exercises, safety strategies, how to use low vision aids at home and you will learn about community services offered for those with low vision.
Admissions
A doctor’s prescription is required that states “Occupational Therapy, Low Vision evaluation/treatment” and includes the individual’s diagnosis. You will receive an initial occupational therapy evaluation to identify your areas of need as they relate to vision loss.
