Hospital for Special Care Sponsors BIAC 2026 Annual Professional Conference
February 26, 2026
Hospital for Special Care is a proud session sponsor for the 2026 Brain Injury Alliance Connecticut (BIAC) Annual Professional Conference taking place March 6, 2026, at Yale West Campus in Orange, Connecticut. This conference is the only event of its kind in Connecticut, bringing together more than 200 professionals from across the state who work in brain injury–related fields.
Designed for both new and experienced professionals, this full-day conference offers the opportunity to learn from expert presenters, explore current research, trends, and best practices, with all workshops and materials grounded in evidence-based approaches, and engage in meaningful professional connections. There are a number of CEU opportunities being provided through APA for psychologists and LPCs, NASW for social workers and ASHA for speech language pathologists.

Terri Larson, CTRS, Hospital for Special Care’s Therapeutic Recreation Manager, and Dr. MaryJo Archambault, will be presenting “Reconnecting Lives: The Critical Role of Recreational Therapy in Interdisciplinary ABI Care” during the afternoon sessions. After an acquired brain injury, over 90% of individuals experience a significant decline in meaningful leisure and community participation, increasing the risk of isolation and reduced quality of life. Therapeutic Recreation (TR) changes that. TR is an evidence-based clinical service that uses meaningful, goal-driven activities to strengthen executive functioning, rebuild confidence, and support community reintegration. It bridges the gap between clinical care and real life—helping people return to what gives them purpose. Terri will be speaking about how HFSC utilizes TR as an essential part of the interdisciplinary brain injury care that we provide.
Learn more about how TR improves clinical outcomes and supports long-term recovery, along with hearing from other leading voices in the brain injury care field.
