Hospital for Special Care Recognizes Meri D’Amico with the Prestigious Bee Award

February 7, 2025

NEW BRITAIN, CT, February 7th, 2025— Hospital for Special Care is proud to announce Meri D’Amico Dillon as the BEE Award honoree in recognition of her outstanding contributions as a Staffing Coordinator. The BEE (Being Exceptional Everyday) Award recognizes healthcare staff who provide compassionate care and go above and beyond their daily duties. Meri is often described as an “invaluable asset” to the team, known for her selflessness, dedication, and unwavering commitment to both her colleagues and the patients they serve.

Meri consistently goes above and beyond, from staying late to fill staffing gaps and ensuring safe staffing ratios, to bringing treats to brighten her team’s day. A truly unforgettable example of Meri’s generosity occurred when her team organized an award ceremony in her honor. She arrived with treats for everyone – completely unaware that the event was actually to celebrate her. This moment was just one of countless instances that showcase her unwavering selflessness to her team.

Meri excels in communication, working closely with management to keep the team informed about staffing changes. Her commitment to ensuring smooth operations is unmatched; she often stays late to assist with last-minute call-outs and works from home to secure coverage for open shifts. Her peers often say, “Meri holds the staffing office together,” and they appreciate her proactive approach to meeting staffing needs.

Dr. Bill Pesce, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, shared, “Meri is an absolute pleasure to work with and talk to. Her dedication to this organization is unparalleled. Despite staffing challenges in healthcare, Meri consistently steps in to fill the gaps with grace and a smile. She has earned the respect of everyone on her team, and her commitment to ensuring our patients receive exceptional care goes above and beyond.”
