Hospital for Special Care Nurses Awarded Nightingale Award for Nursing
April 28, 2021Three nurses at Hospital for Special Care (HFSC) were awarded the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing, an award for nurses who have gone beyond the call to provide excellent care to patients and to mentor other nurses, and who have a strong sense of community. The awards will be presented May 6, 2021 through a virtual presentation. Winners were selected through nominations for nursing excellence.
This year, the following were awarded:

Karina Slattery, RN
Registered Nurse
Danielle Dombkowski, MSN, RN, CNL
Clinical Effectiveness Leader
Danielle is recognized for being an outstanding role model, coach, innovator and bedside nurse leader. She led and implemented new technologies to improve patient safety and is committed to learning and excellence.
Karina is recognized for her professionalism, positivity and leadership, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. She was instrumental in creating and working the COVID recovery unit, and kept spirits high through discharge celebrations and communicating with family members.
Jeanne is recognized for her leadership, grace and collaboration; arranging clinical experiences for over 300 nursing students annually. She led the onboarding and training of 230 employees during the COVID-19 pandemic.
