Hospital for Special Care Names Sharon Seabold Vice President of Strategy, Planning & Business Development

June 9, 2025

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Hospital for Special Care (HFSC) today announced the appointment of Sharon Seabold, PMP, as its new Vice President of Strategy, Planning & Business Development. A seasoned healthcare leader with more than two decades of experience, Seabold brings deep expertise in business development, strategic planning, and cross-functional execution across hospital systems in New England.

“Sharon is a dynamic and thoughtful leader who brings a proven ability to translate big-picture strategy into operational impact,” said Crista Durand, President and CEO of Hospital for Special Care. “She understands how to grow service lines, guide capital projects, and lead with both mission and metrics in mind. We’re thrilled to welcome her to HFSC.”

At HFSC, Seabold will oversee strategy, planning, marketing, communications, and the Hospital for Special Care Foundation. She will serve as a member of the executive leadership team, guiding efforts to strengthen organizational alignment, elevate the hospital’s visibility, and drive growth across clinical and philanthropic initiatives.

Seabold joins HFSC from Newport Hospital in Rhode Island, where she most recently served as Director of Strategic Relations and Planning. There, she led a range of initiatives that advanced patient care and institutional growth—including expansion of orthopedic service lines to achieve advanced Joint Commission accreditation, inpatient rehabilitation services, launch of an adolescent behavioral health unit, increased capacity of the emergency department and development of a system-wide Meds-to-Beds program to enhance patient experience. Her earlier career includes leadership roles at Day Kimball Hospital in Connecticut, where she managed strategic initiatives, philanthropic programs, and financial coordination.

“I’ve long admired Hospital for Special Care’s role as a center of excellence in rehabilitative medicine and complex care,” said Seabold. “It’s a place where strategy and compassion go hand in hand—and I’m excited to help guide its continued growth in service to patients and families across Connecticut and beyond.”

A certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Six Sigma Green Belt, Seabold holds a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Nichols College and a Master Certificate in Applied Project Management from Villanova University. She is an active member of the Project Management Institute and currently serves on its advisory board.
