Hospital for Special Care Elects Samuel N. Paul New Board Chairman

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (July. 18, 2016) –  Center of Special Care, Inc. (CSC), parent company of Hospital for Special Care and its affiliated operating entities, announced that it has elected Samuel N. Paul, President and Partner of Meadowbrook Center Inc., as Chairman of its board of directors.

As Chairman, Paul will preside at all meetings of the board and is responsible for the overall governance and management affairs of Center of Special Care, Inc.  Paul also will ensure that Hospital for Special Care and affiliates of Center of Special Care, Inc. continue to stay true to its mission by anticipating and being responsive to the changing needs of its communities and a changing health care environment by creating an innovative, fiscally-sound, cost-effective system of care.

“Sam has served in a variety of leadership roles including past Chairman and will bring our diverse board members together to proactively address the hospital’s position in this ever changing healthcare environment,” said Lynn Ricci, president and CEO, Hospital for Special Care.

Previously, Paul spent 25 years rising through the ranks at United Technologies Corporation where he held multiple senior management positions before transitioning to president and CEO of Bowater Industries, PLC. Before entering semi-retirement, Paul was the senior manager and principle of multiple startup companies.

Over the years, Paul has been active within the Connecticut community. He is a past board member of the Granby Community Fund and the Granby Education Foundation, and is an active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. In recent years, he has become an avid golfer and traveler. Paul is also a University of New Hampshire graduate, father to three children, a grandfather to five and currently resides in North Granby with his wife of 55 years, Sally Anthony.

Former Chairman David Kelly will remain on the board as Vice Chairman, Center of Special Care, Inc. and James Mahoney will continue his leadership role as Chairman, Hospital for Special Care, Inc. along with being named to serve as Chairman, HFSC Community Services Inc. Richard Feitel was elected Vice Chairman of Hospital for Special Care and HFSC Community Services Inc. and will continue his role as Chairman of Hospital for Special Care Foundation, Inc.
