Hospital for Special Care Accepting Scholarship Applications for Nursing, Physical Therapy and Medical Students
February 14, 2023Hospital for Special Care (HFSC) will provide scholarships totaling more than $34,000 in three healthcare disciplines: medicine, nursing, and physical therapy. Applications and specific eligibility criteria are available online and at several area universities and high schools:
The HFSC Florence Timura Medical Student 2023 Application – for third-year medical students from Connecticut or attending medical school in Connecticut
The HFSC Florence Timura Physical Therapy Scholarship 2023 Application – for students from Connecticut attending an accredited program in Connecticut
HFSC Nursing Scholarship 2023 Application – available to students from the following Connecticut towns, Berlin, Farmington, New Britain, Newington, Plainville, or Southington, (one application):
- The Rona Botwinick Nursing Scholarship
- The Florence Timura Nursing Scholarship
- The Dr. Michael Timura, III Nursing Scholarship
- The Paul Sutula Nursing Scholarship
- The Elizabeth Timura Gold Star Mother Nursing Scholarship
- The John Timura Nursing Scholarship
Completed applications must be submitted by mail and postmarked by April 15, 2023. Applications postmarked after this date will not be considered. The amount of each scholarship is specified on the application.
HFSC scholarships are supported by charitable funds established by generous donors at the Hospital for Special Care Foundation The late Michael Timura established multiple scholarships at Hospital for Special Care to advance local students’ pursuit of careers in health care. He also established a professional development fund for Certified Nursing Assistants at HFSC to support training programs for these helping professionals at the hospital. Each fund honors a cherished member of his family, including his beloved with Florence. Allen Botwinick’s contributions honored his wife Rona through the Rona Botwinick Nursing Scholarship.
