Gifts in Action: Grant Providers

December 22, 2024

In 2024 we saw a number of returning and new grantors joining our mission to rebuild lives. These grants have supported everything from our adaptive sports camp to music therapy for inpatients to assistive technology and more. Our thanks to these generous grantors for helping us continue to strengthen, heal and rebuild. We are proud to highlight a few of these gifts below:

  • Our Ivan Lendl Adaptive Sports Camp offers youths living with physical disabilities and autism spectrum disorder an opportunity to experience adaptive sports and activities. Grant providers Hartford Foundation for Public Giving‘s Fisher Fund, OAH Strides and United States Tennis Association funded us so that we could provide an inclusive, safe and fun camp environment for these communities.
  • Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation awarded us a $2,239 grant to support the cost of an outdoor augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) board for the autism inpatient unit playground. The communication board will serve as a means of communication for all children on the unit, including those who are non-speaking and verbal communicators.
  • We received a grant from the Community Chest of New Britain & Berlin in the amount of $11,025 to support music therapy for inpatient pediatrics, long-term care units and inpatient autism.
  • Bank of America‘s Harold & Rebecca H. Gross Foundation’s $25,000.00 grant was received to help us expand our inventory of the HFSC Person-Centered Assistive Technology Assessment and Loan Program, which provides critically needed augmentative/alternative communication technology device and equipment loans to individuals living with a broad range of physical challenges.
