Denise A. Anderson, EdD, RN-BC appointed Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (December 5, 2018) — Hospital for Special Care (HFSC) has announced the promotion of Denise A. Anderson, EdD, RN-BC to the position of Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. Anderson now leads clinical care and nursing throughout the 228 bed long-term acute care hospital. She joined HFSC in 2014 as Director of Professional Development and Practice and has been a key leader in managing clinical competency programs for more than 230 staff nurses.
“Dee has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to clinical excellence and has improved outcomes in care for patients with complex health care needs throughout our system,” said Lynn Ricci, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer. “She has been a champion for the professional development of skilled health care practitioners and students and contributes extensive experience in both acute and chronic care environments to our leadership team.”
Dr. Anderson is a 2016 recipient of the Connecticut League for Nursing Ruth Olson Education Award and numerous other honors. She earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Hartford. Prior to joining HFSC, Dr. Anderson held positions with Sharon Hospital and Saint Mary’s Hospital.
