TPC River Highlands, Cromwell
Thank you to all of our sponsors, golfers, volunteers, auction bidders, Kevin Nathan, Ivan Lendl and our tournament chair, Jonathan Slifka, for another successful Hospital for Special Care Ivan Lendl Golf Classic! We’re moving back to the spring next year, so hold Monday, May 9, 2022 on your calendar.
The Hospital for Special Care (HFSC) Ivan Lendl Golf Classic has helped individuals living with disabilities pursue their dreams through competitive sports for 25 years. This year we temporarily shifted our focus to help HFSC overcome the most financially challenging time in our history as we begin to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.
You may know HFSC for our adaptive sports programs, but we also fill a unique role in the Connecticut health care system. We provide complex care for patients of all ages with some of the most challenging medical conditions – including patients severely impacted by COVID-19 who require intensive rehabilitation. HFSC has operated at surge capacity throughout the pandemic – caring for patients above our 228 licensed bed capacity to help keep ICU beds open for COVID-19 patients at other hospitals.
The safe, socially distanced HFSC Ivan Lendl Golf Classic held August 16, 2021 at TPC River Highlands raised over $110,000 – thanks to YOU and all of our sponsors, players and donors!

Status of the Adaptive Sports Program
The funds you helped us raise last year (and over more than two decades) help HFSC sustain adaptive sports activities. Our Adaptive Sports program hosted a virtual HFSC Ivan Lendl Adaptive Sports Camp in 2020 for about two dozen participants keeping campers safe and program expenses low.
Plans are underway for a hybrid HFSC Ivan Lendl Adaptive Sports Camp for summer 2021 to maximize participation in a safe and appropriate way. We’ll feature outdoor activities, keeping participants in small groups and safely distanced – and also continue to expand access to camp through virtual sessions.
Keeping our athletes safe and healthy for a post-pandemic return to competition is our top priority.
