Connecticut Magazine names Seetharama, Felice and Monti "Top Docs" in their specialties
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (April 9, 2010) – Hospital for Special Care (HSC) is proud to announce that three of its staff physicians have been named “Top Docs” by Connecticut Magazine. Subramani Seetharama, M.D., Kevin J. Felice, D.O. and David A. Monti, M.D. were each awarded the honor in the April 2010 issue of the magazine.
“HSC is both honored and privileged to have three of its doctors renowned as ‘Top Docs’ within Connecticut,” said John Votto, HSC President and CEO. “To have doctors that are highly-recommended among their peers in each of their unique specializations is the best compliment to our institution as we continually work towards meeting the needs of the most complex patients.”
Dr. Subramani Seetharama, Director of Spinal Cord Injury Program, Hospital for Special Care, is head of the only rehabilitation facility in Connecticut that is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its spinal cord system of care and the treatment of children, adolescents and adults. He graduated from the Armed Forces Medical College in India and did residencies in physical medicine and rehabilitation at St. Francis Medical Center and in internal medicine at Ohio Valley Medical Center. Dr. Seetharama also has a subspecialty certification in spinal cord injury and sports medicine.
Dr. Kevin J. Felice, Chief of the Department of Neuromuscular Medicine and Director of the Neuromuscular/ALS Center & EMG Lab, Hospital for Special Care, has been caring for patients with neuromuscular disorders for the past 20 years. HSC’s Neuromuscular Center is certified by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for the care of both adults and children with chronic neuromuscular diseases, and by the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association (ALSA) for the care of adult patients with ALS and other motor neuron diseases. Dr. Felice graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed his neurology residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and neuromuscular fellowships at Lahey Clinic and the University of Michigan Medical Center.
Dr. David Monti, Attending Physiatrist, Hospital for Special Care, specializes in stroke rehabilitation, management of spasticity, musculoskeletal injuries and traumatic brain injuries. Dr. Monti is part of an interdisciplinary team that strives to maximize a traumatic or nontraumatic brain injury patient’s functional status, independence, psychosocial adjustment and leisure skills including community reintegration. He graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and did his residency at the JFK Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey.
The April issue of Connecticut Magazine includes its annual “Top Docs” listings, featuring the most-recommended physicians in the state as selected by their peers. The magazine surveys more than 5,000 physicians across the state, and the results feature 757 doctors in 25 different specialties.
