Michelle Wilcox, Registered Respiratory Therapist

Michelle Wilcox, RRT was selected as Hospital for Special Care's Employee of the Year. She was honored at the Annual Meeting held in May. Jaclyn Pezzulo, RRT nominated Michelle as the October Employee of the Month, citing a number of her attributes.

Michelle always advocates for her patients. She recently afforded one of her patients the opportunity to attend a family function by arranging transportation, securing a ventilator, and donating her personal time to escort the patient to the party. She is the first to volunteer to take patients on out-trips—a tremendous service that typifies HSC's culture as a caring Hospital which goes beyond business as usual. Michelle has a true sense of community spirit, willing to go the extra mile to provide some welcome distractions and improve the quality of life for her patients.

Often, Michelle will generously spend her off time to creating personalized calendar pages for patients, after having purchased the supplies with her own money. Michelle is an excellent communicator when caring for her patients, as anyone who has ever worked with her can attest. She is a willing preceptor to new respiratory therapists and in general, brightens the day of all staff fortunate enough to work with her.

This esteemed recognition, and award as Employee of the Year, is well deserved.

Congratulations, Michelle!
