Discharge Criteria
The length-of-stay in the Neurobehavioral Program is based on each patient's progress in program and the NBP team's assessment of his/her readiness to rejoin the community in a less restrictive environment. To be discharged:
- the patient has demonstrated progress to a level that a secured unit is no longer required, or
- the patient's progress has reached a plateau, or
- the patient develops an acute medical or psychological condition requiring a different level of care.
Discharge planning is initiated during each patient's preadmission process and continues throughout his/her stay. The discharge planning process includes assisting patients, conservators, and/or families in identifying viable community support services for the patient.
