The Neurobehavioral Program (NBP) is a long-term rehabilitation program that specializes in the treatment of individuals who have sustained an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and have been unsuccessful living in the community or in other facilities. The purpose of the NBP is to assist these individuals in managing their behaviors appropriately, in learning skills to maximize their independence and to improve their overall quality of life. The NBP provides 24-hour physician coverage, nursing care and supervision on two secured units.
In each unit the NBP provides a therapeutic environment that utilizes a behavioral approach to treatment. Based on initial and ongoing assessments, the team identifies and prioritizes behaviors that present obstacles to successful community reintegration. The team works with the patient and family and/or conservator to meet goals while incorporating the patient's cultural and spiritual beliefs.
Treatment is provided seven days a week. The ultimate goal of the program is to reintegrate patients safely into the community, in the least restrictive environment possible, with individualized support services. This program provides a highly structured, safe and supportive environment for learning.
HSC's approach to medical care and rehabilitation begins and ends with teamwork. Neuropsychologists, physiatrists, occupational and speech therapists, registered nurses, case coordinators, and behavioral specialists work directly with patients and families to help patients achieve their maximum level of functioning and independence. HSC provides an Activities of Daily Living (ADL) apartment where patients can practice their actives of daily living and adapted skills.
Individual Treatment Plan (ITP)
An ITP sets goals for treatment and is established to address specific physical, cognitive, educational, social, and behavioral needs of each patient. The plan may include:

- Leisure education and fitness safety awareness
- Substance Abuse Education
- Community resource development
