Getting Started

We make it easy for volunteers to get started. Call Volunteers Services at 860.827.4774 to request an application. Business hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. We welcome and encourage personal contact. You may download the application (see below). Return the completed and signed application to the volunteer services department at Hospital for Special Care. After review, a Volunteer Services staff member will contact you to discuss possible placement and arrange an interview.

Training

Once you are accepted in the program, we will invite you to attend an orientation program with other new volunteers. You must attend this orientation before you start volunteering. 

Health Requirements

You will need to complete a health questionnaire before you can volunteer. All volunteers must be screened annually for tuberculosis (PPD). If you have not had a PPD screen in the past three months, one will be provided for you free of charge.
