The Special Care Dining Companion Program pairs volunteers with patients requiring feeding assistance to create an enjoyable meal experience and an opportunity for socialization. Volunteers have the opportunity to get to know patients and provide assistance on a weekly basis.
Opportunities for qualified volunteers include offering communion, assisting with Sunday worship and supporting the pastoral care team.
Pet Therapy infuses the atmosphere with positive energy. Bring your dog for an hour or two and see the smiles on the faces of patients and staff.
Therapy Partner volunteers gain exposure to the Occupational and Physical Therapy professions by greeting and escorting patients to their therapy sessions and assisting with upkeep of the treatment area. Therapy Partner volunteers have the opportunity to observe therapy sessions. Whether you are a student seeking to gain experience or an adult exploring a second career opportunity, being a Therapy Partner volunteer may be the right fit for you.
Under the direction of the Speech Therapists, volunteers assist patients with practicing therapy treatments to reinforce their speech development skills. Volunteers may also assist with clerical tasks. Complete training and support are provided.
Under the direction of the Therapeutic Recreation staff, volunteers are carefully matched with patients with similar interests to provide socialization and activities. Activities may include assisting patients with email, playing cards, reading, board games, video games, arts and crafts, art and culture, bowling, gardening and more. Musicians are welcome to share their talents on a weekly or monthly basis. New relationships are formed as volunteers positively impact the quality of life of our patients. Opportunities with children on the Pediatric Unit are also available.
