The pediatric staff at HSC is delighted that you have placed your trust in us to care for your child. We are proud to provide a caring, therapeutic and safe environment for your child, your family, and for everyone who visits and works here. To ensure safety for everyone, especially the children, we require assistance from everyone entering the pediatric unit.
The social worker assigned to the pediatric unit will provide you with multiple resources to assist you in caring for your child’s needs.
Activities of Daily Living Apartment: Also referred to as the “ADL Apartment”, is a fully equipped home-like apartment available inside the hospital. Once a family has been trained in the care of their child in preparation for discharge, the family will stay in this apartment with their child to independently practice the skills off the pediatric unit yet within the building. Should problems arise during this time, the pediatric staff can be on hand to assist, problem solve or answer questions. This apartment allows you and your family to become comfortable providing care for your child while support is readily available if needed.
Day passes and trips home: When your child is ready for a trip outside of the hospital, we will work with you to assure a safe, healthy and fun experience in the community or with you at home.
The social worker that is assigned to the pediatric unit will provide you with multiple resources to assist you in caring for your child’s needs.
