The WAVE swim team is open to any swimmer living with a physical disability who wishes to compete. Swimmers must be independent in the water to compete in local, regional and national competitions. The WAVE swim team members practice Tuesday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at the ARC. For more information please contact the HSC Sports and Community Program Manager at 860.832.6220.
The Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program was created for people with arthritis to keep joints flexible, muscles strong and to help reduce the pain associated with arthritis. The soothing warmth and buoyancy of the warm water makes this program an ideal environment for relieving arthritis pain and stiffness. Special Olympics Connecticut provides sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympics-type sports for people eight years of age and older with intellectual disabilities and closely related developmental disabilities. Athletes participate from all across Connecticut and can compete in up to four sports annually.
