"A dear uncle was a patient of this hospital. At that time we were impressed by the quality of care he received at all levels. Our opinion was so high that we decided to volunteer at this hospital. In the past two years we had the opportunity to meet a lot of dedicated people who work at HSC who make this hospital what it is today."

“I was looking for a volunteer position which also matched my academic interest in Speech Language Pathology. When I came across this opportunity to work as a Speech Therapy volunteer, I was thrilled. It has given me a great insight into the profession as well as allowed me to make a wonderful friend."

"I love little kids; I have the time and energy to give back to the community and heard what a great place HSC is, especially Pediatrics. I play, read to the kids, listen, sing, dance - be a kid again!"

"The Pediatric unit has many wonderful and dedicated volunteers. The roles they play are as diverse as the patient population they serve. Our volunteers read or sing to the children who can’t often leave their rooms. Our babies benefit from the volunteers by being comforted, walked, and played with. It is not unusual to see volunteers on the floor playing with and interacting with the toddlers. Volunteers play games, read to, and play dolls with our elementary aged patients. Volunteers also play video games with our older patients. For some it is the highlight of their week. It is wonderful to have the opportunity for these special patients to have the extra attention and stimulation the volunteers give to them. Our volunteers are invaluable to the entire pediatric unit."
