Hospital for Special Care Hartford Satellite on the Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center North Campus

We will be your partners in healing, your partners in care, and caring, your partners in rebuilding your lives...

Hospital for Special Care, the largest rehabilitation and chronic disease facility in Connecticut, opened its doors in September 2004 at a second location, serving greater Hartford. Hospital for Special Care worked with Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center to create a 23-bed satellite of Hospital for Special Care, located at Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center North Campus.

The satellite is specially designed to provide cutting-edge rehabilitative services to patients in the greater Hartford area suffering from medically-complex conditions and health needs and who require a specialized, multidisciplinary team approach from an exceptional staff of highly-skilled medical professionals.

This innovative satellite alternative affords patients facing the challenges of disease, trauma, and post-surgery, who are ventilator-dependent, with the opportunity:

  • to recover more quickly, with shorter hospital stays
  • for faster ventilator-weaning techniques
  • to achieve better patient outcomes
  • for more rapid improvement in a patient's recovery
  • for comprehensive rehabilitative therapies rendered by a team of experts

The exemplary care for which Hospital for Special Care is known, coupled with a 69% weaning success rate, far exceeding national standards of 50 percent, are just two reasons more patients than ever before chose our hospital for the best in rehabilitative and continuing care needs, with quicker homeward-bound results.
