Admission Criteria

  • Diagnosis of acquired brain injury (ABI)
  • 18 years or older
  • Presence of emotional and behavioral disturbance secondary to ABI
  • No signs of neurodegeneration / dementia
  • Demonstrates the potential to improve functional ability
  • Medicaid as payer source
  • Involuntary conservator of person and estate

Discharge Occurs When

  • Patient demonstrates reduction of target behaviors and progresses to a level that a secured unit is no longer needed
  • Appropriate community supports have been established
  • The patient’s progress has plateaued and there is a lack of improvement despite re-evaluations of treatment plan
